Miss Bowser came into our lives on July 11, 2010.
Joe and I decided to buy an aquatic turtle after taking care of his nephew's for a week and thought that it would be an "easy pet" to have. We went to a local pet store and purchased the necessities, and took a peek at the aquatic turtles swimming in a tank. They were all cute, but Bowser was the one that followed us around and seemed so energetic. We originally thought Bowser was a male turtle, hence being named after the Super Mario character, but after a few weeks and doing some research we realized that Bowser's a lady!
It also didn't take long to notice that the tank we purchased (20 gallons) was not adequate for her size (shell length of 4 inches). We upgraded to a 55 gallon tank and she finally had her mansion.
We found out that properly taking care of a turtle requires a lot of time and money.
She is truly spoiled and we love her like some people love their dog or cat.
